Faith Connections

Faith Connections

A Sadhu renounces society and adopts a baby renounced by society.

Directed by Pan Nalin is the story of his travel to Kumbh Mela (Major Pilgrimage of Hindus ) to respect his father's wishes. The film narrates his encounters with a few remarkable people of meditation and mind , a run away kid, a Sadhu, a mother who lost her child, and a Ganja supplying Holy man.

The movie tries to explore the power of Devotion of a person. The cinematography of the movie was great and it did capture the whole spirit of Kumbh Mela. However there were few distortions in the movie.
There was too much focus on missing people and their spouses their children but in a gathering of 100 million or so people there was no major brawl. The happy side of this was not pictured properly.
The excessive use of Ganja by sadhus even though most sadhus don't smoke ganja.

The movie is innovative with a distinct music score to support it. The director has once again proved his talent after some great works with Samsara and Valley of flowers.his distinct views on cultural and religious traditions are shown although he doesn't reveals his own beliefs.

Though released in 2013 the Movie/Documentary is very hard to find to watch in India it is not available on any popular streaming platform. I had to search for a month then i got to watch this movie. But it is available on Prime US.
